Verify integrity of Vegas 2's game cache because I've had installs missing a couple files sometimes with Vegas 2.Ģ. Now I know its not the simplest way to play R6V2 but GameRanger does work and is easy to use once setup.

This might work for R6V1 as well but haven't tried yet. I've recently started playing R6V2 again via GameRanger.
